Redrawn Screenshot: Joker by White-Rose-Brian
Redrawn Screenshot: Joker
I got the idea of redrawing screenshots from animations.  I did one redrawn screenshot from the new Sailor Moon series, but sadly that didn't come out so well.  Around the same time I also started one based on the animated movie Under the Red Hood.  That turned out better so I opted to post it here.  As you can see, I didn’t want to simply trace the background, so instead I added some atmospheric gradients that should hopefully give it more of a nightmarish, bloody feel.

A long time ago, I learned that pure black hardly exists in nature.  Rather, there are various shades of what Lego Batman calls "very very dark gray".  Thus, I would use various very dark shades of gray for coloring and shading black objects.

Would the inverse be true for white objects?  Would I start with a very, very light gray and use various very light shades of gray for shading and highlighting?
I have been contemplating a cosplay for next year's San Diego Comic-Con--specifically, some variation of the current Shazam.  However, unlike past cosplays it's not one that I can feasibly put together from different items from different retailers.  I don't have the experience or know-how to do a good job with constructing a costume for myself.  That is why I hope that I can find a really good costume-maker in Indianapolis or a nearby town (like Carmel or Noblesville).

The main reason why I need someone nearby is that I would need help getting measurements (I recently started working out at a gym, so my measurements could be quite different closer to the time).  I also wish to have an in-depth discussion on how exactly the costume will be designed.  If you are one or you happen to know one, please let me know.
Weinrub Pictures Presents a Brian Whiterose Film by White-Rose-Brian

I've been reworking a home-theater room in a virtual world with plans of reopening it as a public room.  A friend who has been helping me with obtaining items offered to create extra items based on my artwork.  I got the idea to make original fake-movie posters! I knew that they had to look as slick as possible so I put extra time and effort into digital inking and coloring.  I had no idea how involved the process would be especially on that bottom poster!  Though I did post these on Tumblr, I made some small changes to keep a more consistent theme in the credits.  Anyway, what more can I say?  I guess I can just hope that you like the hard work that I put into these.

Studies of Forms in the Human Figure by White-Rose-Brian
Studies of Forms in the Human Figure
As you might have seen if you were able to read the hand-written notes, I was once told that I should learn to draw the forms of shapes within the human figure in order to help my drawings look more third-dimensional.  Recently I did a whole series in my personal journal and posted these scanned images to my blog.  They were a surprise hit among people who saw them on Tumblr so I eventually figured that I'd post this set here too.  I had to shrink these images drastically in order to put them in a single collage for DeviantArt--you'll have to go to my blog if you want to see them at full size--and yet Photoshop still said that the was much larger than the web is meant to handle.  I don't want to have to put a "mature content" tag on this as I want more people to be able to see them and I trust that these are just simple studies of form, not pieces of cheesecake.

I am a seriously aspiring author and illustrator. I have come to believe that my calling—in the most solemn sense of the term—is in creative work. I believe I am called to give my life to crafting art and telling stories for others. I believe that I am called to use my talents to bring beauty and truth to others. That is what I have come to honestly believe after years of serious reflection. I hope to eventually be able to craft beautiful, substantial works that will touch and inspire people for generations to come. You can do with all that what you will. I train myself towards that end.

In the meantime, I am setting up a new presence on the World Wide Web as I continue to grow and mature. Feel free to look around this page and see samples of my work. My main space is on Tumblr. There I have plenty more material to peruse, such as sketches, impressions of movies and comics that I see, audio clips of my voice, and more. Bless you.

I appreciate the compliment and the invitation.  Currently, though, I'm slightly listless and I'm slowly proceeding with a project or two of my own.
